JERUSALEM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to be re-elected as the Likud Party leader in the ruling party's primary on Wednesday.

Netanyahu is vying for the post against Likud member Dany Danon, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The right-wing party will also open 600 polling stations across Israel to enable its 96,651 members to cast ballots for the party’s leader and the rest of its Knesset candidates in the March 17 general election.

The Likud members will also vote on a proposal to enable the party leader to reserve two slots on the list for candidates he would bring who would not have to run in the primary.

Israel is due to hold early polls in March following the collapse of Netanyahu's coalition government in earlier this month.
