CAIRO (AA) – Supporters of ousted president Mohammad Mosi are set to rally in Rabaa Al Adawia square in the posh district of Nasr City on Friday against his overthrow.
The protest was called by the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups under the theme of “rejection of military coup”.
Carrying Egyptian flags and Morsi’s posters, the protestors chanted slogans in support of the deposed president.
Morsi, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was overthrown by the army on Wednesday after massive protests demanding early election.
The Brotherhood has vowed peaceful rallies against Morsi’s overthrow.
"We will continue to join the peaceful rallies against military coup. We certainly reject violent actions and protests," read a statement by the Brotherhood said Thursday.
