Boris Johnson, the Conservative Mayor of London, was elected to the British Parliament Friday.
He won the safe Conservative seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
Johnson has consistently been tipped by British commentators as a future Conservative Party leader and potential Prime Minister.
Speculation only increased when Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron said in an interview last month that he would step down after a second term in office.
Exit polls published after voting closed predicted that the Conservatives would emerge as the single largest party with 316 seats -- just short of the 323 seats needed to form a majority government.
