BERLIN
Speaking at a joint press conference following his meeting with Merkel, Atambaev underlined that "those who do not help the construction of democracy and a democrat society in Kyrgyztan may find a new Afghanistan."
"If we can not develop democracy in Central Asia and can not be successful in erecting a democrat society and a parliamentary democracy, a new Afghanistan may shape up in the region," Atambaev noted.
Kyrgyzstan may become a new Afghanistan, Atambaev added.
