UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammed Javad Zarif on the Syrian crisis on Monday.
Brahimi and Iranian Foreign Minister held talks before the FM’s departure to Vienna to attend a new round of talks with the P5+1 countries (U.S., Russia, China, the U.K., France, plus Germany) on Iran’s nuclear program. During the meeting with Brahimi, closed to the press, the two discussed the current situation in Syria and possible solutions to the crisis, said a statement made by Deputy FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
According to the statement, Iran has a four-step plan to resolve the Syrian crisis. Abdollahian only stated the integrity of Syria, its independence and the nation’s determination in a democratic election is needed for the plan to succeed.
The details of the plan have yet to be announced to the public, said the statement.
