"The mistake made in Libya will not be repeated, in case the arming of the Syrian opposition occurs," said French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
Fabius said the weapons given to the Libyan opposition were captured by the extremists in Mali and if the Syrian opposition was to be armed, this mistake would not be repeated once again, as an answer to the parliamentary question about the topic.
French Foreign Minister said that the Syrian leaders still held the air superiority, kept bombing the opposition and that Russia resisted to make an attempt in solving the crisis.
The issue of arming the Syrian opposition has risen because the situation has become unable to be worked out, said Fabius.
France, together with the United Kingdom, advocates the arming of the Syrian opposition.
