CAIRO
A European Union delegation led by Bernadino Leon arrived in Cairo late Wednesday for talks with Egyptian officials about the country's precarious political situation.
The delegation plans to meet with a host of Egyptian officials, including Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi and Muslim Brotherhood leaders as part of EU efforts aimed at resolving Egypt's current political crisis.
The Arab world's most populous country has been in a state of turmoil since the army ousted country's democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3 following mass protests against his administration.
The unconstitutional change of government is described by the ousted president's backers as a "military coup," while the move's supporters call it a military-backed "popular uprising."
