Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi will head to Switzerland on Wednesday to participate in the annual World Economic Forum held in the country's eastern municipality of Davos, a presidential spokesman said.
The forum is usually attended by heads of state and prominent international figures in the fields of business, finance, media, civil society as well as academic and research institutions.
Al-Sisi is scheduled to give a speech on Thursday at a special meeting on Egypt organized by the forum, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said on Tuesday.
He will also chair a closed meeting on Jan. 23 to discuss international efforts aimed at combating violence and extremism.
The closed meeting will be attended by 52 international figures, including heads of state and government, ministers, heads of international organizations, and a number of public figures, the spokesman said.
The Egyptian leader will be accompanied by the ministers of industry, finance and foreign affairs as well as the central bank governor.
Egypt is hosting an economic summit in March in the Red Sea resort of Sharm Al-Sheikh, during which it hopes to attract $13 billion in investments, according to earlier statements by Investment Minister Ashraf Salman.
Some 120 countries and 3,500 investors have been invited to the summit, Salman said.
