CAIRO
Egyptian security forces defused two locally-made explosive charges in the Cairo underground early on Thursday.
The two charges were found 100 meters from the Helmyet al-Zeitoun station in eastern Cairo, a security official told reporters.
Underground service was briefly suspended in nearby stations before being resumed later.
Security forces are currently combing the area for other explosives.
The Greater Cairo Metro is an important means of urban transport due to its cheap fares and the speed with which it travels between Egypt's Cairo, Giza and Daqahliya provinces.
Millions of Egyptian commuters use the service every day.
