CAIRO
Security forces have arrested 80 Muslim Brotherhood members on violence charges, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said that 53 Brotherhood members were arrested for possessing three sacks full of Molotov cocktails.
According to the statement, Brotherhood members staged limited rallies and "blocked roads, assaulted citizens, torched a bus, police vehicle and four cars".
The ministry said policemen dispersed rallies staged by "terrorist" Brotherhood students in eastern Cairo and the southern Assiut province, arresting 27 "rioters".
According to the ministry, a number of policemen, including a police officer from Assiut, were injured in clashes with the students.
Last month, the Egyptian government officially designated the Muslim Brotherhood, from which ousted president Mohamed Morsi hails, as a "terrorist" group.
