Congolese vote in favor of constitutional changes that will allow the president - who has been in power for 31 of the last 36 years - to stand for another term.
Sunday’s referendum saw more than 92 percent of voters agree with the reforms, electoral authorities said.
The opposition called the move a “constitutional coup” in the run-up to the vote and have called for a campaign of civil disobedience since Tuesday's result.
Under the changes, President Denis Sassou Nguesso, 71, will be able to run for a third term next year.
