The President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai called on the US government in Washington to hand over the Afghan prisoners in Guantanamo to them.
In a written statement released by the presidential palace, President Karzai said that he welcomed US President Barack Obama's statement to close Guantanamo and underlined that all Afghan citizens there should be handed over to the administration in Kabul as soon as possible.
US President Obama promised during his first and second election to close Guantanamo, but could not realize his aim so far.
