ANKARA (AA) – Iraqi Kurdish people are going to the polls on Saturday and Anadolu Agency Kurdish News Service is following the elections to be held in northern Iraqi cities of Suleimania, Irbil and Duhok.
The news related to the elections will be published in Kurmanji dialect of Kurdish language in Ankara and Sorani dialect in Irbil. On the other hand, the news will also be reported in Turkish, Arabic, Russian, English and Bosnian.
All the preparations for parliamentary elections to be held on September 21, were completed in the regional administration in north of Iraq, electoral official said.
31 political parties will compete for the 111 chairs in the regional parliament. Besides, total of 2.8 million people -1,195,000 from Sulaimania, 991,000 from Irbil, 650,000 from Duhok- are eligible to vote in the elections.
3,119 observers will monitor the elections 192 of whom will be foreigners and 628 journalists will reportedly follow the polls.
In the mean time, it was reported that the Habur Crossing Gate between Turkey and Iraq would be closed for 24 hours due to the elections.
