US Central Command says Iranian drone carrier struck
CENTCOM says vessel roughly size of WWII-era aircraft carrier hit, footage released
ISTANBUL
The US military said Thursday that an Iranian drone carrier had been struck and was burning, according to a statement by US Central Command.
CENTCOM said in a post on US social media company X that the vessel – described as an Iranian drone carrier roughly the size of a World War II-era aircraft carrier – had been hit and was on fire.
“US forces aren't holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy,” the command said. “Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire.”
CENTCOM also shared black-and-white footage on social media that it said showed the moment the vessel was struck.
The command did not specify the location of the strike, the weapons used, or whether there were any casualties.
There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities regarding the claim.
Israel and the United States have continued a large-scale offensive on Iran since Saturday, while Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
