Turkey’s president congratulates Barzani

ANKARA
Turkish President on Thursday congratulated Nechirvan Barzani on his election as president of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to Barzani over the phone, according to the Turkey's presidential communications office.
The regional parliament of northern Iraq's Kurdish region on Tuesday elected Barzani president of the region.
Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) emerged as the largest bloc in parliament following elections last September with 45 seats.
