Two Palestinians were shot dead Wednesday after being suspected of carrying out two attacks outside Jerusalem’s Old City.

A heavy contingent of Israeli police were deployed at the scene of the second alleged attack, which police said left an Israeli seriously injured, and was part of a renewed spike in violence that has coincided with a visit by U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.

The two killed Palestinians were suspected of shooting at a bus in the Israeli neighborhood of Ramot earlier on Wednesday.

The Israeli military said another Palestinian was shot dead on Wednesday after allegedly trying to stab soldiers at a checkpoint near the West Bank town of Qalqilya.

On Tuesday, a U.S. tourist was killed during a stabbing attack that left nine others injured in Jaffa and the Palestinian suspect, thought to be from Qalqilya, was killed.

Another three Palestinians were killed during the day following alleged attacks near Tel Aviv and in Jerusalem.

Since an outbreak of increased violence on Oct. 1, at least 193 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The Israeli foreign ministry has reported 34 Israelis or foreigners killed during the same period.
