Thousands mourn two Palestinians killed by Israel in Hebron

RAMALLAH, Palestine

Thousands of Palestinians on Saturday attended the funerals of two Palestinian men who were killed a day earlier after being shot by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian health ministry said that Hasan Jihad, 23, was killed after the Israeli army shot him in the heart during clashes in Halahol village near Hebron.

Earlier on Friday, Mahmoud Shalaldeh, 22, succumbed to his wounds after being shot six times by the Israeli army during clashes in Saier town near Hebron on Thursday, the ministry added.

Also on Friday, two Israeli settlers were killed in a shooting attack near the Jewish settlement of Otniel in southern Hebron.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Friday’s deaths bring the total number of Palestinians killed by Israel since Oct. 1 to 85, including 18 children and four women. 

Over the same period, at least 3,650 Palestinians have been injured by Israeli gunfire.

The latest violence comes amid a wave of alleged Palestinian attacks that have left 13 Israelis dead and 160 injured.
