Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Saturday met with a delegation from the Syrian Turkmen Assembly at the People’s Palace in the capital, Damascus, according to the state-run SANA news agency.

The delegation was led by Council President Faisal Juma bin Jassim.

SANA released photos of the meeting but did not provide further details on the discussions.

The Syrian Turkmen Assembly was established over a decade ago and represents the country's Turkmen population, which is spread across several provinces, including Aleppo and Latakia, as well as Turkmen villages in Homs, Hama, and Raqqa.

Many Turkmen displaced from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights also reside in Damascus and Quneitra.

The meeting is seen as part of ongoing government efforts to engage with various ethnic and community representatives across Syria.
