Syrian forces repelled an Israeli attack targeting sites in southern Damascus, Syria’s capital, on Friday, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

“The air defense forces repelled on Friday an Israeli aggression that targeted some points south of Damascus and downed a number of the hostile missiles,” the agency reported.

It quoted an unnamed military source saying: “Around 4:20 a.m. (0120GMT) on Friday, the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a number of points south of Damascus.”

The source added that “the army air defense forces responded to the missile aggression and shot down some of them.”

The losses were limited to material losses, he added.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army said it had bombed a “military structure” of the Syrian regime in Daraa in response to shelling operations towards the southern occupied Golan Heights.

This came in conjunction with a devastating war waged by the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, which have killed at least 27,131 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 66,287 others, according to Palestinian health authorities.
