ISTANBUL

A Syrian civilian was killed Tuesday in the explosion of a landmine left behind by the terror group YPG/SDF near the Tishrin Dam in the northern city of Aleppo, media reports said.

Alikhbaria Syria TV said that the blast took place near the village of Haj Hussein in the vicinity of the Tishrin Dam.

On Jan. 19, the Syrian Army said that it had completed securing the Tishrin Dam south of the Manbij area, under a ceasefire agreement between the government and the SDF.

Large areas of the Ayn al-Arab region in the countryside of Aleppo province remain under SDF control, following the group’s withdrawal from parts of northern and northeastern Syria in the face of advancing army forces.

On Jan. 18, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa signed a ceasefire agreement with the SDF, stipulating the integration of its fighters into state institutions.

The agreement came after a military operation launched by the Syrian Army, during which it regained wide areas in eastern and northeastern Syria, following repeated SDF violations of agreements signed with the government nearly a year ago and its failure to implement their provisions.
