The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is sending an aid team to the earthquake zone in Morocco, public broadcaster SRF reported Thursday.
Eight SRC specialists will primarily help those people who have lost homes. The SRC confirmed to SRF that the relief team will provide shelter for those affected and give them access to drinking water and food.
Relief workers will be sent from the SRC's emergency response pool, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and national societies.
The SRC specialists are also expected to assist the Moroccan Red Crescent in ensuring logistics and take care of cargo planes landing in Casablanca and customs clearance.
SRF further reported that the SRC is also providing 750,000 Swiss francs ($837,708) in emergency aid with the support of the Swiss government.
