HEBRON, Palestine
A military court in Jaffa, Israel approved a plea bargain giving three months of community service to a soldier who killed a Palestinian man in March 2019, Israel’s Channel 7 media network reported Thursday.
Ahmad Manasrah was helping Alaa Ghiyada, who had been shot and wounded by the soldier on a road near Bethlehem after the soldier mistakenly thought Ghiyada was throwing rocks at passersby.
The soldier then shot and killed Manasrah, mistaking him for Ghiyada.
The soldier is an immigrant from Colombia who planned to become an Israeli citizen.
