Saudi Arabia says it will overcome spat with US
Saudi-US ties strained over Riyadh's decision to reduce oil output

ISTANBUL
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday called the United States a “major ally” to the kingdom, saying the two countries will overcome their recent tension.
“In the long term we’re solid allies,” Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih told an economic conference in Riyadh.
“We’re close and we’re going to get over this recent spat that I think was unwarranted and it was a misunderstanding, hopefully,” he added.
On Oct. 5, Saudi Arabia, which chairs the OPEC+ organization, voted to reduce oil output by about 2 million barrels per day.
US President Joe Biden has vocally criticized the decision and the kingdom, warning of impending consequences, but without specifying the nature of his response.
