Defense Ministry says air defenses destroyed drone targeting capital region
ISTANBUL
Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry said Saturday that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone east of the national capital Riyadh.
The ministry said the unmanned aerial vehicle was neutralized before reaching its intended target.
Earlier Saturday, Saudi authorities said a ballistic missile fell in an uninhabited area after being launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj province, southeast of Riyadh.
The official Saudi Press Agency cited a Defense Ministry spokesperson who said the missile landed without causing casualties or damage.
