A rocket attack from southern Lebanon damaged an air defense base in northern Israel on Tuesday, according to the Israeli army.

A military statement said Israeli air defense systems intercepted several rockets fired by the Hezbollah group from southern Lebanon.

It said that the attack caused minor damage in the Meron Air Force base in northern Israel, adding that no injuries were reported.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tensions erupted amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip which killed nearly 25,500 people following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
