DAMASCUS, Syria

A total of 12 people were killed Wednesday in an air operation conducted by Syrian regime forces in areas controlled by opposition fighters, a civil defense official told Anadolu Agency.

In the eastern Ghouta region of Damascus, a civil defense official Khaled Mustafa said four civilians were killed in the attack in the town of Zamalka and seven were wounded.

“Assad forces attacked the city of Damascus with chlorine gas. Thirty-five people were affected by the gas released. Those affected by the gas were taken to the local hospital for treatment.”

In addition, Ubade Zikre, a civil defense official in Idlib said eight people, including children were killed and 35 others wounded in a regime air attack.

Also five were wounded in a separate attack by the regime forces in Dera region.
