Qatar says ‘specified areas’ being evacuating as ‘temporary precautionary measure,’ to ensure public safety Missile launched from Iran are spotted in the skies over Doha, Qatar as Iran's missile attacks in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes continue on February 28, 2026.

ISTANBUL

The Qatari Interior Ministry announced Saturday that authorities are evacuating “specified areas” as a “temporary precautionary measure” in the interest of public safety until security threats have subsided.

A statement on US social media X said the ministry urged citizens to rely on official sources for information and to adhere to issued instructions.

Since Israel and the US launched joint attacks against Iran on Feb. 28, so far killing some 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hostilities have escalated.

Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Iraq and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
