Qatar says it intercepted missile attack targeting its territory

ISTANBUL

Qatar’s Defense Ministry said Monday that armed forces had intercepted a missile attack targeting the country’s territory, as hostilities between Iran, the US and Israel continued to escalate.

The ministry, however, did not give any details about any possible injuries or damage.

Qatari authorities have announced the interception of dozens of missiles and drones from Iran since the start of US-Israeli attacks on Tehran late last month.

Regional escalation has raged since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting “US military assets.”

Some of these attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports, and buildings.
