Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa discussed on Tuesday efforts to support pathways for peace and political stability in Syria through peaceful solutions that preserve the country’s unity and sovereignty over its territory.

The discussion took place during a phone call after Damascus announced a “mutual understanding” between the Syrian government and the SDF group establishing broad military, administrative, and political integration mechanisms.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them at various levels, the Amiri Diwan said in a statement.

They also discussed “the latest regional and international developments, particularly those related to the situation in Syria, and efforts aimed at supporting pathways for peace and political stability through dialogue and peaceful solutions, in a manner that preserves Syria’s unity and sovereignty over its entire territory.”

Early Tuesday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced a four-day ceasefire to ensure the success of the understanding reached with the SDF.
