Projectile hits tanker off UAE’s Fujairah, UKMTO says
Minor structural damage reported in incident, UKMTO says
ISTANBUL
A projectile struck a tanker anchored 23 nautical miles east of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which caused minor structural damage, it added.
According to UKMTO, the vessel’s company security officer said investigations indicate the damage was likely caused by falling debris from interceptions in the area.
Regional escalations continued to rage as Israel and the US have continued a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
