RAMALLAH, Palestine

Scores of Palestinians demonstrated in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday in protest of an Israeli raid on the main office of the official Wafa news agency.

Israeli forces raided the Wafa premises on Monday on claims of searching for suspects in a shooting a day, in which seven Israelis were injured a day earlier.

Protesters chanted slogans denouncing Israeli raid and violations against Palestinian people.

Organized by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate outside Wafa headquarters in central Ramallah, Tuesday’s rally was attended by journalists, activists and unionists.

"Israel is helpless against the Palestinian media, which has been exposing Israeli practices against our people,” Nasser Abu Bakr, the head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, said.

He called on international media institutions and human rights groups to intervene to stop Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists and media outlets.
