A Palestinian woman was arrested by Israeli forces in Jerusalem on Tuesday after trying to run over a group of Israeli security personnel with her car, according to Israeli police.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said a Palestinian woman had been arrested after ramming her car into a group of Israeli security personnel at northern Jerusalem’s Qalandia checkpoint.

"The suspect was arrested; there were no initial reports of injury to the Israeli side," Samri said in a statement.

The Palestinian Red Crescent, meanwhile, said the Israeli army had prevented rescue workers from treating the alleged attacker.

According to Palestinian figures, almost 255 Palestinians have been killed since the current uptick in Israeli-Palestinian violence began late last year.

Israel, for its part, says 42 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians over the same period.
