Oman says drone downed, another crashes into sea amid US-Iran war

ISTANBUL

Oman said Wednesday that a drone was shot down and another crashed into the sea north of the coastal city of Duqm as military escalation between Iran and the US continued to flare up.

The state news agency ONA, citing a security source, said no human or property losses were reported in the attack.

Oman strongly condemned the continued targeting of its territory, saying it is taking all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security and the safety of those living there.

Regional escalation has flared since Feb. 28 when Israel and the US launched a joint attack against Iran, killing more than 1,200 people and injuring another 10,000.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
