Several major airlines have canceled their flights to Tel Aviv, Israel amid increasing tensions in the region following Iranian attacks against Israel.

American United Airlines on Monday said that it cancelled flights to Tel Aviv on Monday.

It also canceled flights from Washington Dulles to Amman, Jordan. The airline told Anadolu in a statement that they "continue to closely monitor the situation and will make decisions on upcoming flights with a focus on the safety of our customers and crews."

The statement further noted that all United Airlines crews in the region have been moved out and that they "have resumed our regularly scheduled flights between Newark Liberty and Dubai."

Similarly, Air Canada in a statement said it is "pausing operations to and from Tel Aviv as of Sunday, April 14, 2024."

"Flights to and from Tel Aviv on Monday, April 15, and Tuesday, April 16 are cancelled," it said, adding that the next flight from Toronto is on April 18. "We remain in contact with the Canadian Government and will continue to closely monitor the situation, adjusting accordingly," it noted.

Several Western airlines have also suspended flights to Iran.

German airline Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines canceled services to Tehran at least until April 18, according to media reports.

Qantas' direct service from Perth to London’s Heathrow Airport has also been paused because the long flight is possible only by using Iranian airspace.
