Jordanians join teachers strike
Strike enters 4th week as teachers demand 50% pay raise
AMMAN
Hundreds of Jordanians on Thursday joined striking teachers who are demanding a 50%-hike in their salaries.
The demonstrators gathered in the capital Amman raising placards reading: "Teacher is the icon of renaissance" and "Teachers are not demanding luxury, but rights".
"We are not tired .. we do not relent .. our demand is a 50% hike," the strikers shouted.
The strikes began last month to protest a 2014 agreement reached with the government which had promised a pay raise.
