A leading member of Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood group has passed away during attending a Friday sermon at a mosque in Amman.

“Abdul-Latif Arabiyat died after losing consciousness while listening to Friday sermon,” Murad al-Adayla, secretary-general of the Islamic Action Front (the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan), told Anadolu Agency.

Arabiyat was born in 1933 in the Jordanian town of Al-Salt west of Amman.

He later served as parliamentary speaker for three successive terms from 1990 to 1993.

Arabiyat, who also served for a time as the Islamic Action Front’s leader, was 86 years old at the time of his death.
