Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Wednesday inaugurated his country's consulate in Dubai.

“Yesterday, we opened the embassy in Abu Dhabi and today we are opening the consulate here in Dubai. We are getting used to making history,” Lapid said during an inauguration ceremony.

"What we're opening here today isn't only a consulate. It's a center of cooperation, a place that symbolizes our ability to think together, to develop together, to change the world together,” he said.

Lapid pointed out that he also visited the Israeli pavilion - which is under construction - at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Israeli foreign minister arrived in the UAE on Tuesday for a two-day visit.

In September 2020, the UAE and Israel signed a US-sponsored deal to normalize their relations. Since then, the two countries have signed dozens of bilateral agreements in various fields, including investment, banking services, and tourism.
