A dozen Palestinians suffered temporary asphyxiation during an Israeli raid into the West Bank town of Abu Dis on Tuesday, according to local residents and medics.

Israeli forces staged a raid into the town and sealed off roads near Al-Quds University, triggering clashes with angry Palestinian youths, residents said.

Israeli forces used rubber bullets and teargas canisters during the clashes, they added.

In a statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its medics treated 17 Palestinians from Israeli teargas in the area.

There was no comment from the Israeli military on the report.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
