Israeli army says 3 rockets fired from Lebanon

JERUSALEM

The Israeli army said three rockets fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Wednesday.

A military statement said two rockets landed inside Israel, while the third fell inside Lebanon. The army said Israeli forces fired artillery shells into Lebanon in response to the rocket fire.

Earlier Wednesday, rocket warning sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Giladi and Tel Hai settlements near the border with Lebanon.

Israeli media said the incident was an apparent rocket firing from Lebanon.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, for its part, said Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defense Minister Benny Gantz "are holding security consultations in the wake of the rocket fire."

There was no reports of casualties.

A video released by Israeli media showed smoke rising from the site of the rocket fire from Lebanon.

In recent months, similar incidents were reported in which the Israeli army immediately retaliated at targets in Lebanon believed to be the sites of firing rockets on Israel.
