Israeli army releases 9 Palestinian detainees from Gaza
Israel has unilaterally released 264 detainees from Gaza since March, Red Cross says

ISTANBUL
The Israeli army released nine Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run Prisoners Media Office said Tuesday.
The office said on its Telegram channel that the nine prisoners were set free from the notorious Sde Teiman prison in southern Israel and were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, for medical checkups.
Hisham Mhanna, spokesperson of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), confirmed that ICRC teams facilitated the release of the nine detainees and transferred them from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Al-Aqsa Hospital.
Since last March, Israel has unilaterally released 264 detainees, including five women, Mhanna told reporters.
From time to time, Israel releases Palestinian detainees it arrested during its ongoing genocidal war in Gaza since October 2023.
The Israeli army has arrested thousands of citizens from the Gaza Strip amid strict secrecy and enforced disappearances amid reports of torture and abuse.
Israel has killed more than 63,600 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
