JERUSALEM

A Palestinian man was shot dead late Tuesday by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said 41-year-old Shadi Omar Lotfi Salim was shot with live bullets by Israeli soldiers near the village of Beita.

Beita deputy mayor Mussa Hamayel told Anadolu Agency that Salim, a plumber, was on his way home from work.

The Palestinian official news agency WAFA also confirmed the incident.

Israeli authorities have not commented on why the soldiers opened fire on the Palestinian.
