Israel reports new missile attack from Iran amid escalation
Army says sirens sounded across Jerusalem and surrounding areas
JERUSALEM
Israel reported a new missile attack from Iran on Monday, as hostilities continued to escalate between the two countries.
A military statement said missile launches were detected from Iran, with air-raid sirens blaring out across Jerusalem and surrounding areas.
Israeli Channel 12 said shrapnel from a missile intercepted by air defenses fell in the Beit Shemesh area, west of Jerusalem, without causing casualties.
The channel added that debris also fell in the same area during similar attacks in recent days.
Israeli authorities said that at least 14 people have been killed and nearly 3,400 injured in Iranian attacks since late last month.
Israel and the US have continued a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting “US military assets.”
