The Israeli army has released a Lebanese national arrested earlier this week for illegally crossing the border between the two countries.
“The army arrested the suspect on Tuesday for infiltrating Israel from Lebanon," Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said in a statement.
According to Adraee, the individual -- whose name was not given -- was freed Thursday after being interrogated.
The Lebanese national's reason for crossing the border remains unclear.
In recent months, the Israeli army has waged a wide-ranging campaign along the Lebanese border with the ostensible aim of uncovering tunnels believed to have been dug by Lebanon’s Hezbollah group.
