Iraqi finance minister resigns

BAGHDAD

Iraqi Finance Minister Ali Allawi resigned during a Cabinet session on Tuesday, the state news agency INA reported.

Local media cited poor governance in Iraq for the minister’s resignation.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi assigned Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar with running the finance ministry following Allawi’s resignation, INA said.

The Iraqi government has yet to comment on the report.
