Iranian drone shot down in southern Syria
Iranian drone intercepted, destroyed by Israeli aircraft, says Syrian media
ISTANBUL
An Iranian drone was shot down east of Inkhil in Syria's Daraa Governorate after being intercepted by an Israeli aircraft, Syrian state media reported Friday.
No further details regarding the incident have been released.
Similar incidents have occurred in recent days in southern Syria, particularly in Daraa and Quneitra provinces, as debris from intercepted missiles fell amid ongoing US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s military response, raising concerns among civilians.
Since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hostilities have escalated. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
