Iran executes man convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad
Many people accused of espionage for Israel have been executed in recent years in Iran

TEHRAN, Iran
An Iranian national convicted of espionage for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency was executed on Wednesday, the second such case in less than a month, local media said.
Mizan News, a media outlet affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, reported that Pedram Madani was executed following what was described as a “full criminal trial process.”
The report said Iran’s highest court upheld the sentence after Madani was convicted of espionage for the Israeli intelligence agency.
Madani was arrested in 2020 in Tehran on charges of “spying for Mossad” and “illegally acquiring wealth through foreign currencies – such as euros – and digital assets, including Bitcoin,” allegedly received across Europe.
According to the report, Madani frequently traveled abroad, particularly to Germany, before his arrest, adding that he attempted to recruit operatives and collect classified information, based on the “training courses” he received from the Israeli intelligence agency.
He reportedly tried to transmit sensitive intelligence, including locations and infrastructure-related sites, to Israeli handlers via secure communication channels.
His execution follows that of another Iranian national, Mohsen Langarneshin, who was put to death nearly a month earlier.
Langarneshin was convicted of espionage and collaboration with Mossad, and was accused of participating in “terrorist operations,” including the assassination of Revolutionary Guard officer Hassan Sayyad Khodaei.
Khodaei was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants outside his Tehran home in May 2022.
In recent years, Iranian security and intelligence services have reported the arrest and execution of multiple individuals accused of spying for Israel.
In January 2024, four individuals were executed two years after their arrest in connection with a bombing in Isfahan province.
Just weeks earlier, another four alleged members of a Mossad-linked sabotage cell were executed for what authorities described as “extensive actions against the country’s security.”
In December 2023, a man convicted of spying for Mossad in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan was executed.
The latest executions come amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, with reports suggesting that Israel may be planning a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
