Hamas military wing seeks support from Arabs, Muslims

GAZA CITY, Palestine

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the resistance Hamas group, announced on Monday its intention to send haphazard messages to the phones of millions of Arab and Islamic nations in eight languages.

In a statement, Abu Obeida, the spokesman of Al-Qassam Brigades, said: "The messages aim at facilitating the process of supporting the resistance with money."

"We thank the masses of the [Arab and Islamic] nations, who responded to our appeal to support the resistance in digital currency," he added.

At the end of January, the military wing of Hamas movement appealed for financial support to back the Palestinian resistance via the Bitcoin currency.

Bitcoin is the most popular among hundreds of digital currencies and has the largest market value around the world.

Al-Qassam Brigades are reportedly suffering from a financial crisis described by political analysts as "acute" due to economic pressure Israel exerts on its financial sources.
