A group of Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails arrived in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis by bus on Saturday.

The freed prisoners were taken directly to the European Hospital in Khan Younis for medical checkups.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, a spokesperson for Hamas, one of the prisoners, Nader Jamal Hussein from the Jabalia refugee camp, was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Hussein was reported to have visible injuries and bruises on his face and body.

Medical sources told Anadolu that he was unable to stand and had lost significant weight.

This release was part of the sixth batch of Palestinian prisoners freed in an ongoing exchange deal.

Earlier on Saturday, Hamas' military wing the Al-Qassam Brigades and Islamic Jihad's military wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, released three Israeli captives – including two dual nationals holding American and Russian citizenship – in eastern Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

In exchange, Israel released 369 Palestinian detainees as part of the deal, including 36 who had been serving life sentences and 333 others detained from Gaza after Oct. 7, 2023.

A ceasefire agreement took effect in Gaza on Jan. 19, halting Israel’s genocidal war, which has killed more than 48,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and left the enclave in ruins.
