Fire erupts at Fujairah Oil Industries Zone in UAE after drone attack
No injuries reported, say local officials
ISTANBUL
A fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industries Zone in the United Arab Emirates following a drone attack, local authorities said Tuesday.
No injuries were reported, the Fujairah Media Office said on the US social media company X’s platform.
Local civil defense teams immediately responded to the incident and are continuing efforts to bring the fire under control, the office said.
It urged the public to get informed only through official sources.
The development came as hostilities in the region have escalated since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing some 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
