A Palestinian was killed in an explosion in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, according to the health ministry.
Mohamed Nimr al-Magadmeh, 55, was killed in the explosion, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement.
He said a child was also injured in the blast.
Meanwhile, the Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian group Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, confirmed that Nimr was a group member.
In a statement, the Brigades said Nimr was killed by a shell “fired by a suspicious party outside the national ranks”, without giving further details.
The Hamas-run Interior Ministry has yet to issue a statement on the explosion.
